Dear Mr./Ms./Dr. Last Name:

Opening Paragraph:
State your appreciation for the opportunity to interview, mentioning the specific position that is available and highlighting details from the interview.  For example, if you were given a tour of the building or introduced to staff members, refer to this in your letter.  Let the interviewer know what impressed you most about your experience.  For example, “I was truly impressed with the staff’s devotion to individualizing instruction to meet the needs of every child.”

Body Paragraph(s):
Reiterate those qualifications that make you the right candidate for this position.  For example, state, “I am eager to join the Special Education team, as my experience in an inclusion setting will help me work cooperatively with the general education teachers.”  Try to mention several things that make you the individual best suited for this position.  If for some reason you are unable to personally thank everyone you met that day, ask the interviewer to extend your appreciation to them.  For example, “Please thank Mrs. Martin, the head teacher, for allowing me to visit her classroom.”

Closing Paragraph:
Thank the person again for his/her time and let him/her know that you look forward to hearing from him/her.  Request that he/she contacts you for additional information or documentation that will facilitate the decision.

                                                                               Sincerely,
